there is something about the old reggae scene that sets a real balance to midwinter in all its thick bundled heaviness. i’m talking about the garage studio recordings like Trojan Records released in the 60s, not the polished productions of the 70s and 80s. there are many Trojan box sets that are all about this glorious music and i come back to them faithfully every year around this time. i swear you can feel the heat of the sun on you when you listen to reggae in the winter; there is vitamin D in these old records.
